Thanks to the Philmont Fire Department, Cimarron Fire Department, and New Mexico State Forestry units for their actions during the response to the Ute Park Fire. The actions and decisions made during the initial attack phase saved several structures in the Cimarroncita area and helped minimize damage to Ute Park residential areas. In the following days, the United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and countless other regional fire departments would send units and crews to assist in the two-week campaign.
